Rutland regional Medical Center offers options for recurrent Prostate Cancer
Rutland -- At the Rutland Prostate Cancer Clinic, Dr. Ernest Bove, a board certified urologic surgeon, and Dr. Richard Lovett, a board certified radiation oncologist, are meeting with every newly diagnosed prostate cancer patient at the time of the diagnosis and again, if the patient fails his primary treatment. Through this collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to treatment, the patient can better sort out the complex treatment decisions for this disease.
"Traditionally, we at the Prostate Cancer Clinic have been recommending this treatment for people with this set of prognostic variables," said Lovett. "Here in Rutland, Dr. Bove and I have treated many men with conventional and now Intensity Modulated Radiation techniques to give them this salvage treatment. This study again shows that there are secondary options for those few patients in which prostatectomy fails to control the disease."
Bove and Lovett routinely meet patients in the Rutland Prostate Cancer Clinic at Mid Vermont Urology, which is located in Rutland.
