THIS DITTY'S A HUMMER
Many high-school kids Andrew Ditty's size join the football team. For this 6' 215-pounder from Grants Pass, Oregon, the weight room proved more inviting than the gridiron. The 19-year-old began working out with weights at 14 with, as his picture attests, sincere dedication to discipline and desire. Ditty recently won the teenage class at a regional contest, citing Arnold Schwarzenegger's devotion to the sport as inspiration for his own competitive aspirations.
STARTING OVER
Not everyone gets a second chance in life. Curtis Hollins has, and he's determined to take advantage of it. For the past 10 years, he's been a guest of the federal corrections system in lonia, Michigan. During his first day on the inside, he picked up a copy of FLEX and immediately knew he was going to spend all his time pumping iron. Now 36 and rocked up at 5'8" and 180 pounds, Hollins has applied for an ISSA certification as his release date approaches so he can help others achieve their goals.
PATIENCE PAYS OFF
It is said that good things come to those who wait. Rishaud Raynir might be down with that. Although he began weight training 28 years ago, the actor/model/stylist didn't enter his first contest until 2001, but he placed a very respectable third in the novice division. The Fairfield, Connecticut, resident has since added 15 pounds to his 5'11" frame and now competes at 165. Rishaud, an age-defying 45, gets his ultraripped look from training with weights six days and cardio three days a week.
YOU LOOK MARVELOUS
We found it so hard to believe that Lawrence Thomas of Ypsilanti, Michigan, is 54 freaking years old that we made him cough up his birth certificate to prove it. Just goes to show that bodybuilding really is the fountain of youth. The former schoolteacher credits consistent training, responsible eating habits, self-motivation and a healthy assist from FLEX for the 195 pounds hard-packed onto his 5'6" frame. Thomas is retired from teaching, but he is still competing and still shocking people with his amazing physique.
