FDIC changes procedure on insurance certificate
The FDIC announced it will provide financial institutions with only one original certificate of deposit insurance for display when an institution is granted insurance. Banks will be able to request generic certificates for bank branches. The original certificate will be replaced for the bank's main office if the bank changes its name or location. The new rules take effect on June 1. Currently, the FDIC provides certificates for both banks and branches.
