P&G Student Poster Competition
The Second Annual Procter & Gamble Poster Contest for students is scheduled for next year and details will be announced in a future issue of The Dental Assistant. Theme for the poster project is broadly defined as being dental related and would include both clinical and management responsibilities of the assistant as well as subjects dealing with the future of dental assisting and dentistry.
The top three winning entrants will receive a year's free membership in the ADAA plus a monetary award for themselves and their school.
Judging will take place at the ADAA annual conference in July in Anaheim, CA, and participants will be notified of competition results in August.
Posters will be judged on appearance and subject, which shall be dental related. Originality, legibility, spelling, punctuation, color theme and educational value will be part of the judging standards. Here are entry regulations:
1. Contest is open to dental assisting students from ADA-Accredited Schools.
2. Poster shall be 15" x 18" in size.
3. No product brand names shall be used or visible.
4. Standard poster board shall be used (no glass or plastic).
5. Student's name and contact information, including school name, shall be attached to the back of the poster clearly typed or printed.
6. Receipt of poster will be acknowledged but no materials of any kind will be returned.
7. Judging will take place at the ADAA Annual Conference in July in Anaheim, and participants will be notified of competition results in August.
8. Posters must be received in Chicago at the ADAA office by June 1, 2004. Address is:

Student Essay Competition
The American Dental Assistants Association invites you to compete in a Dental Assisting Student-written essay competition sponsored by ADAA and Procter & Gamble.
Requirements:
1. The essay subject must be pertinent to the Dental Assisting field.
2. The essay must be a minimum of five hundred (500) words.
3. The essay must be type-written and will be judged on grammar and punctuation.
4. Participants must be student members of ADAA. The attached entry form must accompany the essay submission.
5. Essays will be judged and awarded at the ADAA Annual Conference. One submission per school.
Rewards:
* A plaque for the First Place Winner and a monetary prize for the top three entries and their schools.
* One-year ADAA membership dues for the top three students.
* First Place Winning Essay will be published in the ADAA Journal.
* Certificate of Participation for all entries.
* Recognition for you and your school in the ADAA Journal
Student Achievement Awards
Presented annually and available to one student per dental assisting school. Reflects involvement with class, and local/state, dental assisting activities and above average academic standing. Educators may request application for the Achievement Award from ADAA Central Office (fax 312-541-1496, e-mail adaa1@aol.com). No phone calls, please. Deadline for submission is March 31, 2004.
