PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Alf is a registered professional engineer in Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia and is a certified PTOE. He has been an active member of ITE for the past 21 years and has served at the section, district and international levels. AIf has both public and private sector experience to draw upon.
Alf began his professional career in 1977 as an Electrical Engineer in the oil business in Alberta. In 1979, Alf decided to pursue a different career path and began his transportation experience with the City of Saskatoon. As Traffic Operations Engineer, he benefited from hands-on-education. He took some courses at the university to expand and enhance his knowledge in transportation. These efforts resulted in a master's degree in civil engineering.
AIf expanded his role at the City. His leadership skills became apparent, and the City Manager asked him to take on the management of the City's Electric Distribution Utility. While the senior management experience with the Electric System was rewarding, AJf decided to return to the transportation sector. He joined Earth Tech Canada Inc. in 2000 as a Principal Engineer responsible for ITS projects. Alf now has expanded his role at Earth Tech to include responsibility for managing the Transportation Group while continuing his technical involvement in projects.
Alf married Nancy in 1978, and they will celebrate their 27th anniversary in 2005. They have two grown children: Brian (1981), who is attending the University of Saskatchewan, and Jenilee (1984), who is attending the University of Calgary. Alf's family and his employer, Earth Tech Canada Inc., are completely supportive of his desire to run for International Vice President of ITE.
