NovaLogic Rolls Out Free Large-Scale Internet Multiplay for "Delta Force"; Gamers Experience the Frenzy of Online Combat Via "NovaWorld"
CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 21, 1998--NovaLogic Wednesday announced the launch of its new first/third-person action game, "Delta Force," into "NovaWorld," the company's free, large-scale, online gaming service.
More than 30 "Delta Force" players per game can play cooperatively or against each other via "NovaWorld's" servers.
In "Delta Force," which is based upon the U.S. Army's elite special forces unit, players take on real-world style Delta Force missions in extremely detailed terrain with the ability to see and shoot for miles in every direction.
Missions include eliminating biological/chemical weapons threats, stealing enemy intelligence and capturing airfields, among other assignments. The gameplay is intensified by the large-scale multiplayer aspect available via "NovaWorld," a service provided to customers free of charge with the purchase of NovaLogic games.
"Delta Force" features a robust selection of Internet gameplay options. Customers will be able to play Deathmatch in "NovaWorld" when "Delta Force" hits store shelves at the end of October. NovaLogic will continue to introduce new online games into "NovaWorld" such as Capture-the-Flag scenarios, Team Deathmatch competitions and King of the Hill games.
Deathmatch is a kill-or-be-killed mode in which every soldier encountered in the environment is an enemy. Team Deathmatch pits teams against each other in kill-or-be-killed battles.
The Capture-the-Flag mode is similar to the popular outdoor sport paintball. Just as in real outdoor paintball games, players, assembled in teams, must guard their base's flag while other teammates sneak over to the enemy's camp to steal the opponent's banner. The winner is the team that captures all of the flags and returns to their base camp with them.
In King of the Hill, a player or team must defend the designated hot zone for a set amount of time without getting killed in order to win the game. In addition, gamers can participate in cooperative play over the Internet with up to eight players as they tackle single-player missions as a team. An increase in the number of AI enemies adds to the challenge.
With the click of a mouse, "Delta Force" players can experience Internet combat right out of the box. The game includes the premium Internet Service Provider, EarthLink Sprint Total Access, which gives players 15 days of free Internet access with no set-up fee.
"Delta Force" has generated a buzz ever since customers swamped NovaLogic's servers to download an online demo which went live the beginning of October. Online squads are already forming based upon the demo's release.
NovaLogic plans to host a variety of tournaments for established squads over the life of the product. Information about the tournaments will be announced within the coming weeks. Since the launch of "NovaWorld" in fall 1997 with the release of "F-22 Raptor," NovaLogic has added several new titles to its online gaming service.
The September 1998 release of "F-16 Multirole Fighter" and "MiG 29 Fulcrum" introduced the Integrated Battle Space (IBS), the first online service where multiple products can compete in one arena via "NovaWorld." NovaLogic will continue to add new products and features to this service.
