ISLANDIA, N.Y. -- Computer Associates International Inc. has released the eTrust Defense Solution Set, a solution used for defense against the security risks and threats associated with the Internet and network computing.

Included in the solution set are tools that provide virus and firewall protection, dangerous mobile code prevention, and advanced intrusion detection. The eTrust Defense Solution Set also addresses potential points-of-entry, including Internet gateways, messaging systems, enterprise servers and user desktops.

The company also unveiled new releases of eTrust Content Inspection, eTrust Antivirus and eTrust Intrusion Detection.

Protecting e-businesses against malicious code, eTrust Content Inspection 2.5 non-intrusively interrogates network traffic, blocking destructive mobile code and viruses. It also validates the digital certifications used for e-business applications based on Java and ActiveX, thereby preventing fraudulent or untrusted dynamic content from silently corrupting data, introducing Trojans or stealing proprietary information.

ETrust Antivirus 6.0 combines with eTrust Content Inspection 2.5 to protect desktops, servers and groupware systems with anti-virus protection. The software supports the firm's heuristics-based scanning technologies and delivers scalable deployment with improved management features. It offers rapid and automated signature updates, centralized monitoring and reporting, and around-the-clock antivirus research.

eTrust Intrusion Detection 1.5 extends its ability to automatically detect, notify, and respond to suspicious network behaviour via a new packet-based detection capability.
