TORONTO -- Dell Computer Corp. has released the PowerVault line of network-attached storage systems.
The PowerVault 735N can be installed in about 15 minutes and managed from any location through a standard Web browser, said the company. The 735N is also scalable, which enables customers to expand storage capacity online while still having access to data without compromising productivity due to downtime.
The 735N was engineered around the Windows operating system and includes support for Windows, Netware, Unix, Linux and Mac. The unit provides four 36GB data disk drives with an initial capacity of 144GB of storage and is scalable to 1.44TB with additional storage enclosures.
Also released was the PowerVault 701N and a capacity upgrade to the PowerVault 705N.
The 701N is a deskside NAS that offers 60GB of storage capacity.
The 705N, originally announced with 120GB of storage capacity last year, now has 240GB of available capacity.
List prices for the units are: 735N - $15,499 (single processor) and$18,599 (dual processor XP), 710N - $2,169,705N - $6,669.
