HARDWARE : Latitudes for the budget-conscious - Dell Computer Latitude C600, C500 - Product Announcement
TORONTO -- Dell Computer Corp. has enhanced its wireless-ready Latitude C600 and introduced the Latitude C500, which is designed for budget-conscious mobile users.
The C600 offers mobile users improved performance in a thin form factor as light as 4.9 pounds. It features the Intel mobile Pentium III processor at 1GHz with SpeedStep technology, as well as a high-resolution 14.1-inch SXGA+ display. The C600 can be combined with the company's TrueMobile 1150 wireless LAN solution and CD-RW/DVD combo drive for users who need to read or write large amounts of data, listen to audio files or watch video files while away from the office, the company said.
The Latitude C500 is a wireless-ready basic notebook featuring Intel's Celeron processor at 700MHz, a choice of 14.1-inch XGA or 12.1-inch SVGA displays and a choice of integrated communications.
Both notebooks come with 128MB SDRAM, a 6GB hard disk drive, integrated 56k v.90 modem, ATI Mobility 128 graphics with 8MB video SGRAM, Dell's DualPoint technology, 24X maximum CD-ROM drive, floppy diskette drive and Microsoft Windows 2000.
The CD-RW/DVD combination drive is available as an option on all Latitude products currently being shipped.
The price of the standard Latitude C600 starts at $3,799 and the Latitude C500 starts at $2,459.
