HARDWARE : Legacy-free, full or reduced deployment - Dell Computer's Dell OptiPlex GX150 SF - Product Announcement
TORONTO -- Dell Computer Corp. introduced the GX150 SF, an OptiPlex desktop computer.
According to the company, the GX150 SF is LegacySelect, which allows IT managers to enable or disable any combination of parallel or serial ports, CD-ROM and floppy drives. This permits the deployment of legacy-full, legacy-reduced and legacy-free systems based on a common platform with common hard drive image and help desk procedures.
The GX150 SF has a desktop footprint of less than 50 square inches. However, its chassis can support monitors weighing up to 150 pounds and can be used in either a horizontal, under-the-monitor configuration or be towered next to the monitor, the company said. Other features include front accessible USB and headphone connectors.
The OptiPlex GX150 SF supports Celeron processors of up to 700MHz and Pentium III processors of up to 1GHz. It also supports up to 512MB PC133 SDRAM -- operating at 100MHz with Celeron -- and SMART II Ultra ATA/100 hard drives of up to 40GB. It also supports a PCI and an AGP graphics card slot, the company said.
Prices start at $1,349 for an OptiPlex GX150 SF desktop with an 866MHz Pentium III processor. With a Celeron processor at 600MHz, prices start at $935.
