Micro Warehouse Inc. Launches Internet-Only Discount PC Outlet
Norwalk, Conn.-based PC direct marketer Micro Warehouse Inc.
has just launched Computersbynet.com, a new internet-only discount
retailer of name brand computer products. Micro Warehouse
says the operation will be combined with its existing internet
auction business, Webauction.com, and will be conducted through
a separate, wholly-owned subsidiary. The company says it will
also continue to operate and enhance its core Warehouse.com
website, which had 1998 revenues of $153 million. Peter Godfrey,
chairman of Micro Warehouse, says he plans to invest $8 million
over the balance of 1999 to support the growth of Computersbynet.com.
Micro Warehouse Inc. is a specialty catalog and online retailer
and direct marketer of brand name PCs, software, accessories,
peripherals and networking products to commercial and consumer
customers.
