Delta Air Lines raises ticket-change fee
AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
Delta Air Lines, a US carrier, has followed the lead of other major airlines and increased its fee for itinerary changes from USD75 to USD100.
The new fee applies to all domestic Delta and Delta Connection flights, but not international flights or flights on Delta Express, its discount subsidiary. The itinerary change fee has also risen for Delta Shuttle flights, from USD50 to USD75, according to The Associated Press.
The changes were effective 29 January.
Increases for ticket changes were initiated by Continental Airlines on 19 January. Continental Airlines' move was followed by United Airlines and American Airlines, which increased the fee to USD90, as well as by Trans World Airlines, which raised the fee to USD100 for tickets to/from Hawaii only.
Alaska Airlines has indicated that it will not be implementing a fee increase, while Northwest Airlines and America West Airlines have stated that they are still studying the issue. US Airways has not yet increased its fee and has given no indication of its intentions.
