Man jailed for airline ticket scam

A Californian man has been sentenced to nearly three years in federal prison in connection with an airline ticket scam.
The man was given a 34-month sentence for defrauding airlines by pretending to work for the US Senate in order to obtain hundreds of discount airline tickets, which he then sold for a profit. The man pleaded guilty to the charges.
He has also been ordered to reimburse US Airways, United, Continental, Northwest and Southwest airlines for their losses, estimated at between USD240,000 and USD1m.
