Holland and Belgium - Tours in Review - Brief Article
We had a wonderful travel experience, Oct. 9-25, '02. We took the "Treasures of Holland, Belgium, and the Floriade" tour, plus a Brussels extension, from Vantage Deluxe World Travel (Boston, MA).
The price for the two of us was $6,274, which included airfare, $598 for the Brussels extension and $478 for trip insurance. The price also included our preferred traveler discount of $400.
Upon arriving in Amsterdam we were escorted to a hotel where we had our own room to catch up on sleep and freshen up. Later we came down to a casual lunch before being taken to the River Odyssey.
Aboard ship, service was always first class. If we didn't like what was served, the staff took care to make certain that we received something else. Food was beautifully presented and delicious.
Two other examples of special treatment were a lovely dinner at a restaurant in Antwerp and the dividing of our bus group in half in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam so we could all hear our guide. We never felt rushed as we had on a previous river cruise. Our tours were great.
Even the transfer from Amsterdam to Brussels surprised us. Many times, transfers are just that: time on the bus 'til you get where you're going. Not this transfer. Our bus took us to The Hague, where we disembarked and walked into the government complex. While we saw this only from the outside, many of us took the opportunity to go off on our own and see the Mauritshuis Museum, which had Vermeer's "Girl With the Pearl Earring" about which we had heard so much. From there we were taken to the beautiful Kurhaus Hotel on the North Sea Beach for lunch.
We were so impressed with this company that not only are we looking forward to our next river cruise with them but we have been recommending Vantage to our friends.
