Hotel near Bangkok airportspecial rates' for ITN readers! - Travelers' Intercom - Miracle Grand Convention Hotel
It seems like almost all of my international trips connect through Bangkok. Coming from the States, I always arrive around midnight, totally exhausted after the seemingly endless flight, yet I have to be back at the airport for the morning's flight. In the past I have opted to go. all the. way into the city for a hotel room or have paid exorbitant fates to stay at the airport Amari hotel.
Hooray! There is now another excellent option: the Miracle Grand Convention Hotel (99 Vibhavadi-Rangsit Rd., Don Muang, Bangkok 10210, Thailand; phone 66 [0] 2575 -5599, fax 66[O] 2575-5555 or e-mail info@miraclegrand.hotel.com). A friend of mine recommended it to me.
With advance reservations at the Miracle Grand, a free airport shuttle will be waiting to whisk you only, 10 minutes away to the perfect accommodations. Totally peaceful without the ongoing roar of airplanes, this place is immaculate, down-to the cocoon-like, duvet-covered bed that you blissfully sink into for a night's sound, refreshing sleep.
And for you biz types, there are computer/fax plug-ins, English newspapers and even (a first for me) an additional TV in the shower so you won't miss a second of the stock market report!
If you're so inclined, there is free use of a full gym and soothing sauna, with many different massages. available at an additional charge. On my visit in January '03, the morning I just had time to generously sample quite a few bites at the excellent buffet breakfast before the shuttle drove me back to the airport, totally refreshed and refueled, in time for my morning flight.
As a matter of fact, I enjoyed my stay so much that first night of my trip that I booked it for two more nights before returning home. During that stay I ate a delicious dinner at their beautifully appointed Chinese restaurant (moderately expensive); the Peking duck alone was the stuff dreams are made of!
The following day I took full advantage of the free downtown shuttle and shopped till I almost dropped... but saved a little for- the following day's visit to Chatuchak, the incredible weekend market (another free shuttle ride).
And in case this rave review is not enough, listen to this. I met Mr. Tadashi Washimi, Director of Sales and Marketing-Overseas. After telling him how much I enjoyed my stay; I mentioned that I was going to write about his hotel in ITN. After-telling him more about ITN and how many readers also would be traveling through Bangkok, he graciously agreed to the following: A SPECIAL 50% DISCOUNT FOR ITN READERS!
Subject to advance booking (easy through the Internet), the offer of 50% off for readers of ITN is good through Dec. 31, 2003. You must take a copy of this letter with you.
The discount is from the rack rates, which. can- be found on their informative website at www.miraclegrandhotel.com. Please note that the quoted prices exclude the 10% service charge and government VAT.
My superior double room was quoted at 5,500 baht, which, after the discount and before taxes, came to about $65.
Be sure to say "Hi" to Tadashi from me. And if you have any restaurant questions or need recommendations, he is quite the connoisseur.
